Nick is still away, visiting his mom and grandmother in Seattle. I kind of wish I went with him, if for no other reason than to escape the sweltering, Amazon-like heat that's hit Boston all last week. It was so bad that on Tuesday at work, we had to turn off all non essential power-suckers (computers, lights, etc) so that we could keep the place at a balmy 84 degrees. My allergies are destroying me right now.
Last weekend was great. I hung out with Nurse Brian, my former cohort at Fenway. We met up with the ol' docs, let them know we'd be into working for them (but not fenway) again and went out for lunch. Then we drank. A lot. I kind of remember losing my Lou Reed sunglasses at Fritz, and the only reason I remember that is because there was a guy there who looked JUST LIKE Freddie Mercury in his Live Aid gear. Brian and I started singing "Tie Your Mother Down," but he was either ignoring us or didn't hear us.
Saturday, I was surprising lucid and not hung over, and I got to hang out with Anne. We went out for Indian food and urban voodoo, and managed a trip to Canton to visit Jill, Max and Larry. Fun for all!
Then, the heat came. At almost the same time, some asshat firebombed El Oriental De Cuba, and I had to email Nick to tell him his favorite lunch place was dust. Cleo's been bouncing between being concerned that Nick isn't home, being depressed about it, and scamming me for more of everything because she can. I think she's secretly human.
This weekend hasn't been as interesting as the last. Susan's daughter's been sick for a few weeks and the gal went to MGH's ER Friday... she was told she has a "sore throat." I took one look at her, asked her if she had started any new medications, history of mono, etc... gave her an allegra D and told her to get ahold of her PCP. An hour later she was fine. Her doc said that it looks like she had two things going on at once, one being allergies. Let's hear it for Allegra D! I actually brought them to my work so that I could print up her bloodwork to bring to her doctor. Anyway, looks like allergies and mono. Again. Poor girl. Lesson: the ER, no matter where you are, sucks unless you're bleeding.
I'm picking Nick up at the airport on Tuesday morning, so at this point I'm just trying to entertain myself until then. Tomorrow won't be a problem (seeing as I'm working and all), but sheesh, today isn't ending. I cleaned the fricken coffee maker. I did the laundry. I made dinner. Fed the cat, all that crap. Maybe I'll go chill on the porch with the remaining Stone IPA in the fridge. Or Ephemere.
